TORONTO – A 73-year-old former Boy Scouts leader from Georgina, Ont., is facing charges in several alleged sexual assaults dating back to the 1970s.
Police in York Region say several victims came forward earlier this year to report details of the alleged assaults.
They say the victims were all under the age of 16 at the time.
Police say the accused, Aubrey Wayne Stentiford, worked as a leader with the 6th Newmarket Boy Scouts in Newmarket, Ont., from the early 1970s until approximately 1976.
Police say he also had connections to the Kawartha Lakes Region and was a school bus driver in York Region up until the time of his arrest.
The accused was charged on Wednesday with four counts of indecent assault of a male and four counts of gross indecency.
Investigators believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
